  2. Island City Book Club

    May 16, 2018, 6:30 PM @ Richard C. Sullivan Public Library

You can find book discussion groups almost everywhere these days -- in bookstores, community centers, private homes, online, and at the Richard C. Sullivan Public Library of Wilton Manors. While for some, reading is a solitary activity, many find their appreciation and pleasure of a book broadened and deepened through discussion. If you have a love for reading, and want to interact on an intellectual level and engage in interesting conversation, call us or stop by and ask about our group. The Island City Book Club meets on the third Wednesday of every month. This month's selection is In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. Set during the waning days of the Trujillo dictatorship in the Dominican Republic in 1960, this extraordinary novel tells the story of the Mirabal sisters, three young wives and mothers who are assassinated after visiting their jailed husbands.
