Read with Dogs provides a relaxed atmosphere in which to practice the skill of reading. By sitting down next to a trained reading dog, the child relaxes, pats the attentive canine, and focuses on the act of reading. Reading improves, confidence is gained, and reading becomes associated with something pleasant. As one child said, “It’s pretty fun!”
