June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. The City of Wilton Manors is supporting the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association and “Painting the Town Purple” to raise awareness about the disease. Did you know that an estimated 5 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease? 520,000 patients are in the State of Florida. 39,996 reside in Broward County.
To show our support for Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month, the front of City Hall will be up-lit in purple. In addition, the Mayor will read a proclamation at the June 13, 2017 City Commission meeting and present it to a representative of the Alzheimer’s Association. As shown in these pictures, City Staff members wore purple on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 to show their support for Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month.
Alzheimer’s disease is a disease that has taken some of our dearest loved ones. We have all been impacted or have the potential to be impacted by this terrible disease. Please help us show support to an organization dedicated to helping those affected and fighting for a cure against Alzheimer’s by wearing purple on Tuesday, June 13, 2017!
