The Keith Study offered four recommendations for City action:
Adopt the Complete Streets Program city-wide and institute policies to convert the major thoroughfares in Wilton Manors to Complete Streets.
Monitor and participate in the Broward Next process through Broward County.
Chang the land use designations along Andrews Avenue and Oakland Park Boulevard to Transit Oriented Corridor.
Create at least two additional sub-districts within the Urban Center Mixed-Use district which address and encourage redevelopment while preserving the unique character of Andrews Avenue and Oakland Park Boulevard.
Interim steps recommended include:
Encourage maintenance of existing buildings
Encourage installation of landscaping
Encourage the use of shared driveways and shared parking to reduce the number of curb cuts
Negotiate with local franchised utilities to remove old wooden poles.
Based upon the feedback the City received after the January 17, 2017 and January 30, 2017 workshops, staff is requesting additional feedback from our residents and property owners on the project in order to determine the boundaries. Once feedback has been received, and the boundaries have been determined, The Mellgren Planning Group will continue their analysis and submit an application, with all required supporting materials, to the City for public hearings to be scheduled.
City staff wants to hear from our residents and property owners regarding the Andrews Avenue / Oakland Park Boulevard Transit Oriented Corridor Land Use Plan Amendment project.
