“The City of Wilton Manors Code Compliance Unit is committed to improving the Quality of Life of our ‘Island City’ through the delivery of professional services done with a passion for our profession and respect for those we serve”

The City of Wilton Manors Code Compliance Unit currently resides under the direction of Chief of Police Paul O’Connell, and is directly supervised by the Code Compliance Supervisor of the Wilton Manors Police Department. Code Compliance Officers proactively patrol their assigned areas for violations, for the betterment of our community. The primary objective of your Code Compliance Unit is to gain compliance through community engagement, public education and fair and equitable enforcement.

Code Compliance Officers are assigned geographical areas of responsibility within our City to assist in the efficient patrol of code violations. Although each Officer has an assigned area, they are available, and frequently service our residents and business community throughout the City. Your Code Compliance staff provides seven-day-a week coverage generally between the hours of 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, with weekend hours varying to accommodate special events and target specific community concerns.

CODE COMPLIANCE BUSINESS TAX RECEIPT ACTION PLAN

Through complaints and inspections, the City of Wilton Manors has identified businesses operating for an extended period of time without having obtained any local licenses. This means that there is also a potential for many businesses within the City limits to not have any local, County, or State licenses. Leaving those businesses unchecked can be a great risk to patrons, patients, employees, and visitors. Lack of appropriate licensing means that government agencies responsible for ensuring the safety of products and services, as well as the credentials of the individuals providing them, have not had the opportunity to review and/or inspect those businesses.

The posting of business addresses in the front and rear of the property is also a requirement of the Wilton Manors Code of Ordinances, as it is essential for public safety personnel to quickly identify the location for which an emergency may be taking place. Adhering to this requirement can reduce the response time for public safety officials, and the potential of injury or loss of life.

In order to ensure the safety and welfare of the City, the Code Compliance Unit will be performing inspections of all businesses within the Wilton Manors City limits. During these inspections, we will be educating the business community of these potential violations and advocating compliance.
