The City requires door to door solicitors be licensed by the City (Ordinance Section 10-138). This requirement allows our police department and other city staff to conduct research on those who will be in our neighborhoods. This review process allows us to make an informed decision on whether an application will be approved or denied while keeping “public safety” in mind. Our police department endeavors to only provide well intended individuals the authority to solicit in our neighborhoods as maintaining adequate public safety is our goal. Should you see an unlicensed solicitor who fails to display proper identification via a city approved badge or documents you are encouraged to report this activity immediately to our non-emergency phone number (954) 764-HELP (4357), or 911 if the activities of the solicitor rise to the level of an emergency. For more information regarding solicitor rules and regulations please contact Sgt. Biagio Balistreri at (954) 390-2161 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
